East Tilbury Medical Centre & Corringham Health Centre

Below is a statement from NHS England regarding the recent change in provider for the East Tilbury Medical Centre and Corringham Health Centre

From 28 July 2015, medical services will no longer be provided by Dr S Gorai and Dr T Nimalaraj at the East Tilbury Medical Centre and the Corringham Health Centre. Dr Gorai and Dr Nimalaraj have voluntarily surrendered their contract with NHS England following their difficulties in obtaining mandatory registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

NHS England has now awarded a temporary contract to College Health Limited to deliver primary medical services from Wednesday 29 July 2015 for 8 months. This provides NHS England time to fully engage with patients to find a longer term solution.

The British Red Cross has launched a campaign to share useful advice and information on administering first aid.

It can be distressing when a child is hurt, especially if you don’t know what to do. Now you can beef up your first aid knowledge by taking advantage of a new campaign from British Red Cross.

On the homepage for the new campaign, you will find useful online tips and advice on what to do in a variety of situations such as head injuries, broken bones, choking and many more. You can also download an app for your phone so you always have potentially lifesaving information at hand. Visit the British Red Cross page for more information:

The Big Latch On 2015

Breastfeeding mums are invited to grab a picnic blanket and join in the Big Latch On 2015 at Basildon University Hospital.

The Big Latch On 2015 takes place on Friday 31 July and is a global movement designed to get as many women breastfeeding their babies at the same time.

The aim is to promote breastfeeding, raise awareness of support available and connect mums who are breastfeeding their babies with other mums.

Basildon University Hospital performs best for emergency care in the Midlands and East of England as attendances hit record high.

Basildon University Hospital was the best performing for emergency care in the Midlands and East of England according to official figures.

During the first quarter of the financial year (April, May, June) an average of 353 patients per day attended Basildon Hospital for emergency treatment and 95.69% of those were seen and admitted or discharged within the national target of 4 hours. The average performance across the sector was 91.87%.

The total number of patients attending Basildon for emergency treatment during this period was 32,113.
