To help face the challenges to the health and care system in Essex, a partnership has been formed between the NHS organisations in Essex.

Mid and South Essex Health and Care Partnership (formerly known as the Sustainability and Transformation Partnership or STP) is made up of hospitals and NHS providers in the south of the county plus the CCGs that commission the services, including Thurrock CCG. The Partnership will see hospitals, GP surgeries and other NHS service providers work together to address deep-rooted pressures and secure high quality care.

The overall aim is to improve health and care in areas managing financial deficits or issues of service quality or both.

Thurrock CCG will be working with our partners in the hospital trusts and the other CCGs in south and mid Essex to ensure the success of the Partnership. Key elements of focus include a closer working relationship across the area and improvements of provision and access to urgent and emergency care.

Health and care organisations consultation

Plans were developed by the Partnership and were presented to residents of Mid and South Essex through a consultation which ended on Friday 23 March 2018.

A Joint Committee made up of the five CCGs in Mid and South Essex agreed to go forward with the proposals in July 2018. These proposals include changes to A&E services, the development of a special stroke unit at Basildon and the transfer of services from Orsett Hospital to new medical centres in Thurrock, resulting in the eventual closure of Orsett Hospital. you can read more in the news section of our website.

The Partnership has produced a guide that outlines the decisions on hospital changes and what they will mean for the public. Click on the link below to download:
