SERIOUS CASE REVIEW - "JULIA"
Thurrock Local Safeguarding Children Board carried out a Serious Case Review into the circumstances surrounding the support and service provision to a child to be called "Julia". The independent review scrutinised and challenged the actions of all agencies and organisations that had an involvement to identify any learning in this case.
It has important findings for services locally, but also for all those involved in safeguarding nationally. Based on the findings of this review, the LSCB has produced an action plan and has been working with all agencies involved to ensure that learning improvements are made.
This section of the website has been created to provide information about this review not only for agencies and professionals, but also the public and wider community. A copy of the review is available to download, in accordance with Working Together 2013.
Other local safeguarding reviews
As well as overseeing serious case reviews, Thurrock LSCB looks at opportunuities to learn from other areas' serious case reviews and other reviews conducted nationally to identify how we can improve safeguarding across the borough.
The board conducts a number of audits and reviews each year and can comission what are termed "managed reviews" to ensure that the agencies responsible for childrens safeguarding provide the appropriate service.
