Female Genital Mutilation app

on .

In preparation for the summer holidays, a newly created app is offering information and advice to young people on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

The app aims to teach both young girls and boys living in the UK more about FGM. It is hoped that providing information to young people through a technology they use will help young people recognise friends and family that might be at risk, offer advice to women that may be themselves at risk, or offer support to women that have undergone FGM themselves.

The site has special features that allow viewers to visit the site privately. Shaking a smart phone makes the app disappear, and if accessed on the computer, the site can easily be closed and removed from the browser history by clicking on a single button.
