Below is a statement from NHS England regarding the recent change in provider for the East Tilbury Medical Centre and Corringham Health Centre
From 28 July 2015, medical services will no longer be provided by Dr S Gorai and Dr T Nimalaraj at the East Tilbury Medical Centre and the Corringham Health Centre. Dr Gorai and Dr Nimalaraj have voluntarily surrendered their contract with NHS England following their difficulties in obtaining mandatory registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
NHS England has now awarded a temporary contract to College Health Limited to deliver primary medical services from Wednesday 29 July 2015 for 8 months. This provides NHS England time to fully engage with patients to find a longer term solution.
Alastair McIntyre, Locality Director, NHS England (East) said:
“NHS England understands that this has been a difficult situation for the partners and staff to deal with. We are aware that these changes may be upsetting to patients, some of whom have been with the practice for many years, and we are working with College Health Limited and staff to ensure patients are supported during the transition.
We hope there will be minimal disruption to patients during the change of provider. Patients will be able to continue accessing services as normal from both sites.”
Over the next few months, NHS England and Thurrock CCG will be working closely together to review primary care services in East Tilbury and Corringham to identify potential alternative options for GP services in the area. Patients, the local population and stakeholders will be invited to help shape these services during a period of engagement.
